Add Bruno Sammartino to the list of possible WWE DVD releases this year!

WWE interviewed “The Living Legend” Bruno Sammartino for a career retrospective this week in Pittsburgh, which could end up as a DVD/Blu-ray set, a WWE Network special, or both.

The idea has been tossed around for a number of years now. It has appeared as an option on multiple WWE fan surveys, including one issued by the company late last year which described the project as a “biography with new Hall of Fame footage, plus bonus matches”.

This SummerSlam poster has now been removed from Amazon.com.

It appeared on the SummerSlam 2014 DVD/Blu-ray product pages as a placeholder before the cover artwork is ready, possibly spoiling a John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar main event.

WDN reader “BITWZach” sends word of some new additions to WWE streaming content on Netflix in the United States. Those include Ultimate Warrior: The Ultimate Collection, Shawn Michaels: Mr. WrestleMania, and The Best of RAW and Smackdown 2013.

The latest issue of WWE Magazine (with “The Best of WWE Main Event” DVD included inside) will be in UK stores until around July 22nd only, so we encourage you to pick one up!

You may recall that the last time the UK magazine were able to obtain the rights to include a DVD was all the way back in 2011 when the May issue had “Kofi Kingston – Boom! Boom! Boom!” attached. They are hoping to continue with the Main Event volumes this year.

Looking forward to a documentary DVD/Blu-ray on Bruno Sammartino. One of the all time greats to ever step in a ring.

  2. […] Wrestling DVD News is reporting that WWE is interviewing Bruno Sammartino for a documentary on the multitime champion and Madison Square Garden institution. […]

  3. Lawrence says:

Sign me up for the Bruno DVD as well. I just hope a lot of young fans pick this up (should it be confirmed) as I fear many don’t know just how important he was to the wrestling business and the WWE in particular.

  4. miz4life says:

Would so buy this, Bruno & Hogan, didn’t know about that one. Hell yeah, There’s also a 6 man elimination match, Bruno, Tito, Jake The Snake vs Honky Tonk Man & Hart foundation.

  5. Richard says:

A Bruno doc is way overdue. It’s an important story to tell for a new generation. Bruno was the FIRST “face if WWE”. I hope this delves into the complexity if the relationship between Bruno and Vince, their estrangement and his return in 2013.

We won’t get a whole slew of matches unfortunately since footage of Bruno in his prime is scarce. Expect same old 70s footage and probably some early 80s stuff including his tag match alongside Hogan.

  6. SRB says:

Hoping for Bruno/Hogan vs. Bundy/Gang. Bruno’s final match.

Unfortunately I don’t believe that match exists on tape does it? It wasn’t a TV taping and I don’t recall many house shows (if any) taped from The Baltimore Arena. However if it does, it’d be an incredible inclusion without the shadow of a doubt.

A Bruno Blu-Ray set is what I’ve been waiting for. I’m also hoping to meet him this August at the Wizard World comic book convention! :)
